THE CELEBRATION OF PROPHET’S MOHAMMAD (PBUH) BIRTH IN ALGERIA
Algeria is characterized by many customs and traditions in the celebration of religious events. One of the most important religious event in Algeria is the birth of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
Algerian Families celebrate every year on 12 Rabie Awal , the birth of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him (PBUH) , by preparing traditional food amidst joyous ceremonies of authentic Algerian Customs.
Algerians who have held to their past and social values pay the greatest attention in celebrating this religious occasion of “ Al-Mawlid Al Nnabawi” the birth of the Prophet PBUH , by preparing a number of traditional meals such as Couscous and Chakchouka, as well as other traditional desserts.

The Memory of Al Mawlid Al Nabawi is the occasion to show joy among people and families.
Some of the families see in this occasion a blessed opportunity to circumcise their young boys.
Rich Families also take advantage of this event to give out food to the unprivileged and the poor as well as decorating mosques and holding religious seminars , where they pray to Allah Almighty and hand out donations and gifts to children who memorized the Holy Coran.
Al Mawlid Al-Nabawi is considered one of the Algeria’s key religious celebrations , since every generation has been passing it.
